Seabuckthorn, Hippophae rhamnoides L., occurs in various subspecies primarily in temperate to cold climates in Asia and Europe. Due to its hardiness, special root formation, and nitrogen fixation in the soil, it is increasingly cultivated worldwide against soil erosion, land re-cultivation as a pioneer plant as well as for groundwater preservation.
Seabuckthorn berries are among the fruits richest in vitamins in our flora and contain a variety of nutritionally valuable substances. For decades, scientific research worldwide has also been investigating the pharmacological use of seabuckthorn berries, especially the oils, as well as the leaves and wood of the plant.
